Small Parts Flow Racks

Small parts flow racks provide gravity-fed bin and tote lanes sized for hardware, fasteners, small components, and kitted parts. Precision lane width dividers, adjustable pitch, and multi-tier stacking deliver the highest small-parts pick-face density available from a gravity-fed system.

Key Features

Precision Lane Width Control

Continuous T-slot dividers adjust in 5mm increments to match exact bin footprint — eliminates bin tipping and lane jamming common with oversized lanes.

Multi-Tier Stacking

Three to six tier frames use full building height for maximum SKU density per square foot of floor space.

Gravity FIFO Delivery

Inclined wheel or roller track delivers parts bins to the front pick face automatically — no operator retrieval from the rear.

Mixed Bin Compatibility

Single frame accommodates multiple bin footprints in adjacent lanes — no dedicated frames per bin size required.

Ergonomic Pick Height

Tier heights engineered to NIOSH recommended lift zones — top tier above 60cm, bottom tier above 30cm from floor.

Tool-Free Assembly

T-slot frames assemble with Speedlock hidden fasteners — no drilling, tapping, or welding required for installation or reconfiguration.

Applications & Use Cases

Assembly Line Parts Presentation

Dedicated lane per hardware SKU at each assembly station — eliminates bin searching and parts shortages at the point of use.

Hardware & Fastener Storage

Dense multi-tier bin lanes for bolts, nuts, clips, and connectors with FIFO rotation to prevent mixing of lot dates.

Kitting Area Supply

Pre-kitted small-parts bins gravity-fed to kitting operators without manual retrieval from shelving.

Supermarket Pick Face

Line-side supermarket lanes for tugger train replenishment — bins slide forward as consumed, empties returned to the rear.

Quality Inspection Staging

Small-parts sample bins flow to QC inspection stations in controlled FIFO order for lot-by-lot inspection.

MRO Crib Storage

Maintenance consumables in gravity-fed bins — first-in-first-out prevents shelf life expiration of lubricants and adhesives.

Electronics Component Storage

Tape-reel and component bin lanes with narrow dividers for PCB assembly line component presentation.

Cold Storage Small Parts

Aluminum and plastic wheel track rated to -20°C for small pharmaceutical or food-contact components in coolers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum bin size the lanes can accommodate?

Lane dividers adjust down to 50mm wide, accommodating small hardware bins and sample trays. The minimum bin depth supported depends on track pitch — shorter bins on steeper pitch risk tipping, so Modular Solutions specifies minimum bin depth as a function of pitch angle and bin height.

Can different bin sizes share the same tier?

Yes. Continuous T-slot dividers partition each tier independently. Adjacent lanes in the same tier can hold different bin widths — the divider slides to the required position and locks with a hand knob.

What track type is recommended for very light parts bins?

Plastic wheel track with a steeper pitch (6°–8°) is recommended for lightweight bins under 2kg. Heavier bins use roller track at shallower pitch (3°–5°) to limit delivery speed. Modular Solutions specifies the combination based on your bin weight and desired flow rate.

How are the frames anchored to the floor?

Standard frames use leveling feet with optional anchor bolt kits for seismic or high-traffic environments. Workstation-integrated frames attach to the workstation base structure via T-slot brackets without separate floor anchoring.

Can the rack be extended after installation?

Yes. T-slot frames are modular — additional bays attach end-to-end with splice connectors, and frame height is extended with additional uprights. All modifications use standard T-slot hardware already on-site.

What label and visual management options are available?

Label holder extrusions attach to T-slot channels on each lane front face. Color-coded dividers, bin label inserts, and barcode/QR label holders are all available as snap-in or T-slot mounted accessories.
