Can drawer units be added to an existing workstation?

Yes. Drawer banks mount to the T-slot frame under the work surface or as a side-hung pedestal on the station end upright. Existing T-slot frames accept drawer bank brackets without drilling. Modular Solutions can supply an add-on drawer bank kit for most existing station configurations.

What is the maximum load per drawer?

Full-extension ball-bearing slides are rated to 100 lbs per drawer. Heavy-duty slides rated to 200 lbs are available for drawers holding large tool sets or heavy calibration equipment. Slide selection is confirmed at design review based on the heaviest intended drawer load.

How are foam insert layouts created?

The customer submits a list of tools and components with approximate dimensions (or sends physical items for measurement), and Modular Solutions creates a foam layout drawing for approval before die-cutting. Foam inserts are die-cut in 2″ open-cell or closed-cell foam in the customer-specified color, with shadow outlines for each item.

Can drawer fronts be color-coded for different operator stations?

Yes. Drawer front panels are available in standard RAL colors, and label strips can include color-coded zone identification. This is commonly used in multi-operator cells where each operator’s drawer bank is a distinct color for immediate visual identification.

Are ESD-safe drawer configurations available?

Yes. ESD-safe drawer configurations use dissipative foam inserts (10⁶–10⁹ Ω surface resistivity), conductive drawer front panels, and a ground wire bonding the drawer bank to the station frame ground point. The complete configuration meets ANSI/ESD S20.20 requirements for ESD-sensitive component storage.
