Can I expand a table I already have, or do I need to order it expansion-ready?
Tables ordered with standard T-slot aluminum frames can typically be expanded with splice connectors and additional extrusion — regardless of whether they were originally ordered as expansion-ready. Send Modular Solutions the frame drawing or part number from your original order and we can confirm compatibility and quote the expansion kit.
How do I expand a table without disrupting production?
Expansion sections bolt to the existing frame while the table remains in place. The process involves loosening two to four connectors on the frame end, sliding the expansion extrusion into position, and fastening. A typical width expansion is completed in under 30 minutes without moving the existing station or removing items from the work surface.
Does expanding a table affect its load rating?
Adding additional spans to an aluminum T-slot table does not reduce the load rating per existing span — each span is independently supported. The expansion section has the same load rating as the original table. If the total load across the expanded table exceeds the original specification, Modular Solutions can re-analyze and recommend cross-bracing if needed.
Can the surface be extended to match the wider frame?
Yes. Phenolic laminate, steel, and all other surface materials ship pre-cut to the expanded dimensions. The new surface panel fastens to the expanded frame with T-slot fasteners and aligns flush with the existing surface — or the full surface is replaced with a single wider panel at expansion time, depending on customer preference.
Are expansion kits available as a standard product?
Yes. Modular Solutions offers standard expansion kits in 12″, 24″, and 36″ width increments for the most common table depths. Custom expansion kits for non-standard dimensions are quoted and typically ship in 1 to 2 weeks.
