Overhead shelves are typically positioned 18 to 24 inches above the work surface for small parts bins (within seated or standing reach) or 30 to 36 inches above for document reference and monitor arms. Modular Solutions designs each overhead zone to the operator’s reach envelope and the specific items being stored.
Can a monitor arm and an overhead shelf coexist on the same rear upright?
Yes. The rear T-slot uprights have multiple mounting faces and continuous T-slots on each side. A monitor arm on one T-slot face, a shelf bracket on an adjacent face, and a light bar on the crossbar can all coexist on the same rear upright without interference.
Can the overhead structure be added to an existing table?
Yes. If the existing table has rear T-slot uprights that extend above the work surface, an overhead structure can be added by inserting crossbar connectors and crossbar extrusion. If the existing uprights are flush with the work surface, upright extensions splice on to provide the additional height needed.
What is the maximum load for overhead shelves?
Standard overhead shelves carry up to 150 lbs distributed load. Heavy-duty overhead shelves with 90mm extrusion crossbars and reinforced brackets carry up to 300 lbs. Monitor arms are rated 15 to 55 lbs depending on arm selection. All overhead load ratings are confirmed at design review.
Is task lighting included standard or optional?
Task lighting is optional and quoted as an add-on. Modular Solutions offers 24V LED bar lights in 24″, 36″, and 48″ lengths that mount to the overhead crossbar T-slot. Power wiring routes through the upright channel to a rear-mounted power connection. Illumination level and color temperature are specified at order.
