Short wall walkway guards should be inspected visually at monthly intervals for impact damage (bent posts, deformed rail, broken welds), anchor loosening (post wobble at floor connection), and paint or coating degradation (corrosion starting under damaged coating). Any post or rail section that has been impacted and deformed should be replaced immediately — a deformed post or rail that has already yielded under one impact has significantly reduced residual capacity for the next impact.
