What is the difference between a pergola and a pavilion?
A pergola has an open lattice or slatted roof that provides partial shade while allowing light and air to pass through. A pavilion has a solid or opaque roof — typically standing seam aluminum or polycarbonate — that provides full weather protection. Both are built on the same 6000-series aluminum T-slot frame and can be designed to match your footprint and load requirements.
Can these structures handle snow and wind loads?
Yes. All overhead structures are engineered to applicable local building codes and can be designed to meet specific ground snow load (Pg) and basic wind speed (V) requirements for your location. We provide engineering drawings with each project and can supply stamped drawings for permit applications on request.
Can an overhead structure be attached to an existing building?
Yes. Lean-to structures and canopies are specifically designed for building attachment. We coordinate connection details with your existing wall or roof structure and can work from architectural drawings or field measurements. Freestanding versions are also available for any of our overhead structure types.
Can the structure be expanded or reconfigured after installation?
Yes. All our overhead structures use bolted T-slot connections — not welded or bonded. You can extend the bay length, add sections, change the roof panel type, or disassemble and relocate the entire structure without cutting or destroying any component. The modular frame system is designed for long-term flexibility.
Do you provide engineering drawings for permit applications?
Yes. Every project includes a design consultation with our engineering team and a set of 2D shop drawings for customer approval before manufacturing begins.
